Via Ferrata

There are several Via Ferrata climbing routes in the area. Originating in the Dolomites in Italy they are routes which have been equipped with ladders and handrails to make them easier to navigate for less experienced climbers. Some have sections suitable for children, and some have more technically difficult sections which are ideal for improving your skills. There are several in the area, but the three most popular within half an hours drive from our chalets are:

Pralognan-la-Vanoise

This is a large Via Ferrata with over 50 climbing routes, one of which runs under a water fall! It is in a small town called Pralognan which is a 20 minutes drive from either of our chalets.

Les Bettieres

This Via Ferrata is in a villiage called Peisey Nancroix which is a 30 minute drive from either of our chalets. It has three different levels in three parts and is suitable for climbers of all abilities. It ascends from 1610 m to 1910 m and offers spectacular views.

Le Roc du Vente

This Via Ferrata is in a villiage called Areches Beaufort again about half an hour from our chalet in Bourg Saint Maurice, and about 40 minutes from Montchavin. It ascends from 2050 m to 2360 m and is split in to four stages. It provides incredible views of the canyon between its two summits, and of Mont Blanc.

There are climbing guides who will show you these and others in the area for a fee of around 200 Euros a day. Let us know in advance and we can arrange this for you.
