Our chalet in Bourg Saint Maurice is is an ideal base for touring the Alps because: * We have off road parking for your bikes. * We are opposite the Tonneau cafe a well known meeting point for bikers touring the Alps. * We take bookings all our bookings on a nightly basis. * We have an area outside where you can hose down your bike. * Each room has a heated rail and hooks for drying out wet clothes. * Our price includes breakfast and dinner, but we can also do a packed lunch if you'd like one. Some of the best routes accessible from Bourg are: Cormet de Roseland Altitude: 810 m - 1968m | Vertical climb: 1158m | Gradient: 6% average - 11% maximum A beautiful road leading from the Tarentaise to the Beaufortain valley. Sharp hairpins in the trees climb up away from Bourg, then the plateau opens out into a lovely valley with dramatic views of the Mont Blanc. Once over the pass, you see the Lake du Roseland laid out below you as you head into the pretty town of Beaufort and on to Albertville. Col de l'Iseran Altitude: 810m - 2770m | Vertical climb: 1960m | Gradient: 6% average - 11% maximum The route from Bourg St Maurice to the Col de l'Iseran takes you along the valley floor which steadily climbs up to the decorated dam at Tignes, along the side of Tignes lake and through the ski resort of Val d'Isere before the final 16km to the summit of the Col. You'll see stunning views of the peaks and glaciers of the Vanoise massif. Col du Petit St Bernard Altitude: 810m - 2188m | Vertical climb: 1378m | Gradient: 4% average - 6% maximum The road heads up into the resort of La Rosiere and on into the Italian Alps. The views are varied, ranging from heather on the wide open plateau, to a stunning view down the Isere valley, when on a good day you can see all the way to Tignes.
