Cormet de RoselandAltitude: 810 m - 1968 mVertical climb: 1158 m Gradient: 6% average - 11% maximum A beautiful road leading from the Tarentaise to the Beaufortain valley, the Cormet de Roseland is one of the most stunning climbs in the Alps. First sharp hairpins amoungst the trees climbing up the side of the valley away from Bourg, then the plateau which opens out into a lovely valley with dramatic views of the Mont Blanc, and then the final dramatic ascent to the Col. Once you come over the pass, you see the Lake du Roseland laid out below you. The road leads into the pretty town of Beaufort and on to Albertville. back to top... Col de l'IseranAltitude: 810 m - 2770 mVertical climb: 1960 m Gradient: 6% average - 11% maximum The route from Bourg St Maurice to the Col de l'Iseran takes you along the valley floor which steadily climbs up to the decorated dam at Tignes, along the side of Tignes lake and through the ski resort of Val d'Isere before the final 16km to the summit of the Col. Throughout the drive you will experience stunning views of the peaks and glaciers of the Vanoise massif. back to top... Col du Petit St BernardAltitude: 810 m - 2188 mVertical climb: 1378 m Gradient: 4% average - 6% maximum This road leads out of the Tarentaise valley up into the resort of La Rosiere, and then on into the Italian Alps. The views are varied, ranging from heather on the wide open plateau, to a stunning view down the Isere valley, when on a good day you can see all the way to Tignes. Mont Blanc can be seen from the top of the Petit St Bernard and when you head down into Italy towards Aosta the hairpins through the trees make for a run ride. back to top... |
