Chris Cracknell and Lucy Hughes set up Chill chalet in 2001 to provide a unique service =
Affordable catered accommodation on a nightly basis.

So, after setting up in an apartment that could stretch the phrase "shabby chic" to the limit, with boundless enthusiasm and a love of good hospitality, great food and sense of adventure, Chillchalet was born. Our early guests were mostly younger snowboarders, but then our philosophy started attracting people from all walks of life who wanted the homely feel of a catered chalet holiday with the flexibility of a nightly hotel.

We have always been the only chalet company to take bookings on a nightly basis for a fixed year round price. Although many people loved it, not enough people were booking in this way and we were left with large un-fillable gaps in the calender every year. So unfortunately in 2010 we finally had to concede defeat and now take the majority of our bookings by the week with a set changeover day. We still offer four night breaks, and one night stop overs when we can, and don't worry, as soon as we can afford to, we'll be going back to the nightly service.

Our principles haven't changed over the years, but we have invested in smarter chalets and now offer some of the more usual chalet holiday trimmings, like providing cakes, or wine with dinner. We still offer great value for money and level of flexibility which are unknown in typical chalet holidays, attracting people who know their own minds and value our customer focused approach, so we still:

* Help you service your skis, snowboards or bikes for free
* Don't have any extra hidden costs, so your linin, towels and taxes are included
* Allocate an above average amount to our food budget and focus on hearty home cooked meals with plenty of carbs to keep you going
* Offer 3 or 4 night breaks for those with limited time off work
* Allow you to check in and out at times which suit you so you can maximise your time on the mountain
* Don't require you to book a package deal including travel or lift passes
* Are located walking distance from lifts and all amenities so you don't need to hang about to be picked up or dropped off at the lifts
* Don't dictate when you have breakfast or your tea time cakes, biscuits and hot drinks, but let you help yourselves when you want to.

"7 years on it's great to see that you are sticking to your principles. We love how chilled out it all is" Mary, Apr 08
