Home > Skiing and Snowboarding > Summer snow in Tignes

If you stay with us in Bourg in the summer you will be able to visit the Tignes Glacier for some summer fun in the snow. The lifts are open from mid June until the end of August, and then again from the end of September. There are 16 lifts which enable you to access 20 km of runs and a snow park with 2 half pipes, rails and jumps of all sizes.

Lift pass prices have not yet been released, but to give you an idea a day pass last year cost 32.00€ and 24.00€ for children under 12 and adults over 60.

Novice skiers and snowboarders

Beginners will find the runs ideal for learning on from about 10am. Before this the sun hasn't had time to warm the ground and the piste will be icy. But once the snow has softened up a bit, it is ideal conditions to learn in. The snow is nice and soft for you to fall over in, and because of the sunshine you can enjoy a bit of sunbathing and soon dry off if you take a tumble and get wet.

Intermediate skiers and snowboarders

People who are confident will enjoy the runs but will probably not need more than a day to fully explore them. You will enjoy the park because there are jumps to suit all abilities and a fun atmosphere with people around who are happy to share tips. There are several companies who run summer camps to train people on the jumps and you can learn a lot from watching these groups.

Advanced skiers and snowboarders

Very experienced people will soon tire of the pistes, because the area is not vast and off-piste riding is strictly forbidden due to hidden cravasses under the snow and the high risk of avalanches. However you will love the park. There are boxes and rails, 2 decent half-pipes, jumps of all sizes, including some huge kickers. Lots of people spend time there in the summer practicing so it's a good place to learn new tricks and observe the pros in action.
