There are several options for swimming in the area around Bourg Saint Maurice and Montchavin:
Plan d'Eau Swimming Lake
This is a specially build lake about a half an hour cycle, or a 10 minute drive from either of our chalets (from Bourg it is a flat trail, if you cycle there from Montchavin you will be going uphill on the way home. It is free to use, has a sandy beach, a cafe, a toilet block, a free car park and lots of grass and trees to provide shade.The council clean and re-fill the lake every year and it has a slight current feeding fresh water from the river so it is very clean to swim in. The water is a similar temperature to the sea, so lovely and refreshing without being too cold. Plan d'Eau opens at the start of June and isn't emptied until October.
Bourg Swimming Pool
The Centre Nautique is in the middle of Bourg Saint Maurice, so only a minutes walk from our chalet in Bourg. It has a covered 25m pool and a seperate children's pool and saunas which are open all year round. There is also a open air 50m pool surrounded by a large sunbathing terrace which is open every day from the middle of June until October.The price of entry varies but is only around 4 Euros for unlimited access, and the terrace and pools are open until half past seven in the evening, so it is a great place to relax after a busy or tiring day on the mountain.
