There are several options for swimming in the area around Bourg Saint Maurice and Montchavin:

Plan d'Eau Swimming Lake

This is a specially build freshwater swimming lake about 30 mins cycle or 15 minute drive from either of our chalets. From Bourg it is a flat trail, but if you cycle there from Montchavin you will be going uphill on the way home. It is free to use, has a sandy beach, a cafe, a toilet block, a free car park and lots of grass and trees to provide shade.

The council clean and re-fill the lake every year and it has a slight current feeding fresh water from the river so it is very clean. The water is a similar temperature to the sea, so refreshing, but not too cold, and the beach extends well into the water, so perfect for those who are a bit sqeamish about the mud. Plan d'Eau opens at the start of June and isn't emptied until October, and there are bar-b-que spots dotted around, making it perfect for family days out.

Bourg Swimming Pool

The Centre Nautique is a few minutes walk through the park from our chalet in Bourg st Maurice. There is is an open air 50m pool which is open every day from the middle of June until October. It is surrounded by a grass sunbathing terrace with picnic tables, and 3 diving boards. There is a also a covered 25m pool and a separate children's pool and saunas which are open all year round. It is open every day until 7.30 pm so perfect for relaxing after a long day. The price of entry varies but is only around 4 Euros for unlimited access.

Montchavin-Les-Coches Swimming Pool

There is an indoor heated pool and an outside terrace, with a jacuzzi a few minutes walk from our chalet in Montchavin. The organise swimming lessons for children, and have free aqua aerobics classes. Entry costs 3.10 Euros for adults, or you can buy 10 entries for 23.50 Euros and 2.10 Euros for children under 14, .
