Our chalet in Bourg st Maurice are only just over an hour from
our nearest airport at Chambery and two and a half from Geneva, Lyon or
Grenoble, so flying is a very convenient option. The flight itself takes
about two hours so if you live near an airport at home the whole trip
can take under 6 hours, and depending on when you travel and how you transfer
from the aiport it can cost as little as £95 return.
Because we charge by the night you will be able to take advantage of
cheap off peak flights. This will also save you money on your transfer
from the airport because they all charge a bit less during the week and
on Sundays. If you would like us to arrange your transfer for you just
let us know when you book.
The pros about travelling to the Alps by plane
You can sometimes get very cheap flights if you are willing to travel
in off peak periods, and book in advance. Our chalets are an hour from the nearest airport
and and if you are near an airport at home it can be a very quick way to
travel. If you travel during the day there is also the added bonus that you get to fly over the Alps and get stunning views of Mont Blanc on a clear day.
The cons about travelling to the Alps by plane
You have the hassle of arranging how to get to the airport from home, and then to your chalet the other end (if you stay with us we do this for you) which can also be quite expensive depending on the method you chose. There is also obviously the environmental impact, but you can always try to mitigate this through a carbon offsetting organisation.
