* Crossing the channel with a vehicle * The route from the French side of the channel to the Alps * Finding our chalets once you arrive in the Alps How to find Bourg-st-Maurice (Les Arcs) chaletOn the road from Albertville to Bourg Saint Maurice you will pass through a town called Moutiers. You will need to negotiate a round about, but continue to follow signs for Bourg Saint Maurice which you will reach after about 20 minutes.Continue over a couple of roundabouts, sticking to the main road and you will pass the railway and bus station on the right. Look out immediately on your left for a round building which is the Tourist Office. There is a small single lane turning on the left just after this building which is our road. Unfortunately there is a restriction on turning left here, so you will need to continue to the next roundabout and double back on yourself so you can turn right into the road. As you take this small road you will see the chalet, which is the large blue building ahead of you with a sign saying Chillchalet. Park anywhere you can on the road which heads up the hill on the right hand side of our chalet to unload. This is pay parking, but if you would like free parking head up the hill and take the first right on to a road where all the marked out spaces are free. How to find Montchavin (La Plagne) chaletOn the road from Albertville to Bourg Saint Maurice you will pass through a town called Moutiers. You will need to negotiate a round about, but continue to follow signs for Bourg Saint Maurice. ?About 10 minutes after you leave Moutiers you will see a signpost on the right for Montchavin-Les-Coches. ?Take this road down into a small town across a railway track. ?Take the first right hand turn which is signposted Montchavin-Les-Coches, and then the first left which is also signposted and will take you around 10 minutes worth of hair pin bends. ?Keep an eye out for a signpost on the left which points you into the town of Montchavin. Ignore this turn when you come to it and continue past it around the corner about 20 metres. ?Take the first turning you come to on the left and head around again sharp left through the car parking area. ?Follow this road around to the right where it heads up a slope towards the telecabin cable car. ?Just before you get to the cable car you'll see some garage doors on your left with a small road in front of them heading towards what looks like an archway. Take this road as far as it will go up towards the Pharmacy and stop and unload. ?If you walk under the archway you will see us just past the water trough on the right. ?Unfortunately you can't park outside the chalet but will need to take the car back down to the free car park where you left the main road. |
