There are many marked routes in the resort. We can give you maps when you arrive, but here is a flavour of some of the walks which you can access from our chalet in Montchavin:

Walks accessible by chair lift from Montchavin

The Dou du Praz walk in Plagne Sollages passes 4 information boards which record part of the history of the resort and its architecture. Several panoramic information boards give you the names and altitude of surrounding mountains, and 17 information boards lead you on an astronomic journey themed on 'The planets of our solar system'.

The snow walk to the Arpette from Plagne Bellecote 4 information boards give you information on the glaciers, the snow and the avalanches.
Duration: 1 hr

The Bief-Bovet path starts from the hamlet of La roche du haut / Plagne Montalbert. There are 80 information boards along the route recording the tumultuous life of this small, manually dug, stream, which has been the subject of lawsuits for 700 years.

The Prajourdan route is accessed by the Fornelet chairlift or on foot from Aime-la Plagne. This path records on 18 information signs the history of the hilly reserve of Prajourdan and explains how snow cannons work.

The botanical path of Lavancher is located at the side of the MairiersŒ way. there are160 plant species identified by botanical information boards along the circuit.

The mountain fauna path located along the route of Notre Dame du PrĮ-Longefoy identifies 45 creatures by means of 90 information boards with photographs and identification notes for each species.

The Superga path has 22 information signs giving the history and legends of the Superga chapel overlooking the village of Longefoy.
Duration: 20 mins.

The canal path is located in the centre of the village of Longefoy, and has 14 information boards giving the history of the canal and its legend.
Duration: 10 mins.

The wood and forest path is located along the Aime-Longefoy main road, this path has 70 information boards about the life, history and management of the woods and forest.

The Champagny en Vanoise route starts from Champagny le Haut and head along 2.5km of classic alpine path. There are 10 boards which explain the characteristics of the valleyŒs alpine countryside, the fauna and the architecture.

Walks accessible on foot from Montchavin

The path of the mine is a loop starting from Montchavin overlooking the Ponturin valley and passing a former anthracite mine. You will pass 3 informative signs and 2 panoramic information boards

The nature path is a circuit in the forest, linking up Montchavin and les Coches, showing off the mountain countryside in summer. You will pass 9 information boards covering various themes such as water, the evolution of the countryside, and the exploitation of the forest.

The peat bog path is an easy walk starting from just below Les Coches that leads you across the peat bog of Lac Noir (classified natural heritage) and its characteristic vegetation.
Duration: 1hr

The Bief path is a gentle climb of 270 m. It starts from below the Coches, following very closely for 4 km an old manually dug canal which used to serve as both a water supply for the villages and to irrigate the fields. There are 3 information boards along the route.
